Therapy process
A 50-minute consultation serves as both an initial introduction/personal getting to know each other, and as an initial diagnostic assessment on my part, during which I gain an understanding of your existing symptoms. This may be followed by one or two additional 50-minute consultations, as well as up to four trial sessions.
By the end of the trial sessions, I must have a consultation report from your primary care physician or psychiatrist (I will provide this to you during our sessions). You will then see your primary care physician/specialist with this report, which will clarify whether existing physical illnesses need to be treated concurrently or whether there are any current contraindications for outpatient treatment. A contraindication could be, for example, a current acute addiction disorder with regular substance use, which must be treated clinically before starting outpatient therapy so that outpatient treatment can be successful without concurrent substance use.
